Woke up late and then decided to check out the beaches. We had a lovely breakfast of coffee, cheeseburgers and tropical fruit right on the beach surrounded by thousands of beach loungers.
After breakfast we walked up the beach a little and then got a tuk tuk to Kamala beach which is a lot quieter than Patong Beach. We passed a lovely little beach called Laem Sing that you can see the whole of the bay from - really beautiful!
On our way back we decided to go for a swim and rented a lounger for 100 baht. We spent the rest of the day relaxing on the beach and enjoying the ocean. The sea water in Patong Beach is a few degrees cooler than the water in Samui and is lovely and refreshing. We even took our snorkel in to see what we could see - too many people for see creatures but visibility is very good.
We had lunch of tempra prawns and spring rolls from a vendor - delicious!
Next we decided to do a little shopping - street markets first. Here all the vendors start with 500 Baht a t-shirt but with bit of haggling from Gene 200 baht is possible.
Tonight's cuisine consisted of many many choices and we decided on traditional Thai as well as seafood. Sheri had her new favorite - Rock Lobster Thermidore and a Maithai while Gene had his favorite green curry and beer!

9th day of our travels
January 19th 2013
Today we say Goodbye to Koh Samui and hello Phuket, 6am taxi to the port to catch the ferry then mini bus to Surat Thani after which a bus for our 5 hour trip to Phuket!
Unfortunately, unlike our trip to Samui from Phuket, our trip back wasn't to great and Sheri was ready to give a few Thailandians and one South African a knuckle sandwich by the time we arrived at our hotel in Patong.
Anyway, that was a distant memory after we went for a walk, turned down the wrong street and got Gene checked out by a bunch of Thai boys dancing in the streets without their shirts on (some only with their undies on) LOL
We are now truly in the heart of Phuket town, with all the hustle and bustle and every 5steps you take someone is trying to get you a taxi, tuk tuk or wants you to have a massage. You smile a lot and so no thanks all the time.
As we were tired from a long day of travels we settled for a double bacon cheese burger from Burger King for supper and went to sleep early.

8th day of our travels
January 18th 2013
Early start today 9:30 lol, after breakfast we managed to get in some tanning before our site seeing adventure of Koh Samui and all it's wonders!
After walking our breakfast off we flagged down a taxi to take us to the famous waterfall 2 not 1, because nobody was sure where they left it!
The taxi dropped us in front of the entrance(200 baht cheaper). after our 2km hike up to the park we would have paid the extra 200 baht gladly.
Elephant, tigers and crocodiles were the delight of Sheri's day (not!), but still no waterfall 2, choices are 4x4 or hike. "Griesel style" hike it was! The next 1km meander was a breeze..... Sorry there was a breeze which was quite refreshing in between catching our breath and dodging 4x4's.
Finally, Sheri managed to find cold water in Koh Samui - under waterfall 2. After a well deserved swim we embarked on our journey back down to base camp and negotiated our way back too the resort. A very long walk interspersed with a few tuktuk rides. We visited a Buddhist temple where a mummified monk was on display. We are almost certain that this monk did not invent sunglasses!
Next we had to decide on a dinner venue - far too many choices for our already overloaded minds. The New Hut is very nice because it is on the beach, the beers are icy cold and a menu has pictures to help you decide on the cuisine. The food was great, all Sheri's new "favorites" King pawns in fried garlic, Pad Thai and Green Curry. Awesome!

7th day of our travels
January 17th 2013
The wind has picked up a bit so it is a little cooler today. Still good beach weather though so we'll probably do some more tanning.
Very chilled day we managed to relax for the first time, relaxing walk along the beach looking for a nice place to have a sundowner.
The New Hut Resort & Restaurant was the closest place we could find that felt like home!
After a couple of drinks and debating the menu for dinner we decided on McDonald's or KFC, not that Thai food was bad just that Sheri wanted a toy! (Joking Matt)
So we set off in search of the Griesel pot of gold at the end of the rainbow........... KFC! (we were tried of walking)

6th day of our travels
January 16th 2013
Today we took the day off and just relaxed on the beach. We took a walk to the Family Mart and stocked up on beer and European snacks and then hit the beach to correct our tan!
